RDNA — an identity layer for machines that live with people

Home robots are arriving as bodies without identities. RDNA is a two-layer answer: RDNA-1 is the license plate — which machine is this? — cryptographic lineage, truthful sensor-state declarations, and session receipts. RDNA-P is the birth certificate — which someone is this? — a personality’s genome, its consent-governed mutation history, and continuity that is witnessed rather than asserted.

What the standard specifies

A genome, not a config file
A personality’s temperament, voice, duties, and inviolable rules are typed genes in a signed record. Its fingerprint renders as a literal DNA-style sequence — ten codons as unique as a forensic DNA profile.
Consent-governed change
Genes never change in place. Every mutation is dual-signed — the entity’s own key plus the owner’s — and the entity refuses changes that weaken its conserved safety genes. “Who changed my mother’s companion?” is answerable from the chain.
Witnessed continuity
Every encounter between entities countersigns both life-history heads — the social graph becomes the transparency log, with no central registry. A wiped-and-resold machine is exposed the first time it meets an old acquaintance.
Children, never clones
Copying creates a child: fresh keys, recorded ancestry, an empty life. Heritage passes; memories never do. Safety genes compose by intersection — a descendant is never more permissive than its parents.
Honest scars
Data loss happens. A restore must continue from the last witnessed state or carry an owner-attested scar — amnesia recorded as amnesia. Anything else is an unattested discontinuity, and the record says so.
The body vouches for the soul
Hardware keeps its own signed tenancy log of which entities it has hosted. Machine identity and personality identity are deliberately separate keys — an attacker must falsify both.
